The UCSC Campus Elections Spring 2008 will be conducted via the world wide web at http://elections.ucsc.edu.
Votes will be accepted electronically from May 14 through May 21, 2008. Arrangements for access for people with disabilities must be made by contacting the Elections Coordinator, Lucy Rojas, before May 1, 2008 (see above contact information).
In order to vote, students will need to enter their Student ID and PIN. If you do not have that information, check with the Office of the Registrar, (831) 459-4412.
Only currently registered (Spring 2008, based on third week records) undergraduate and graduate students of UCSC are eligible to vote.
Votes may be cast from any computer with internet access. For web browsers that cannot support secure transmissions, feel free to use any of the campus computing labs to cast your vote. UCSC students are encouraged to vote at campus computer labs, college offices, and the Student Union.
Screening of voters, casting of votes, storing of votes, and determination of results will all occur electronically. Voter anonymity is built into this process. Every attempt has been made to ensure the security of all data. Any attempts at voter fraud will be handled as defined by campus judicial policies. Fraudulent votes will be eliminated from elections results and will not count toward the minimum voting pool as required for each measure.
Results of the fee referenda portion of the election will be available in June 2008. Results of the Student Union Assembly Officer elections will be available in June 2008. Check the Campus Elections website for results.
Individuals who wish to challenge the election process or validity of the election results may file a written complaint with the Vice Chancellor, Student Affairs. A complaint must include a detailed explanation of the specific action or section of the election policy being grieved, or alleged to have been violated, and the remedy requested. The time limit for filing a complaint shall expire thirty (30) working days after the election results are announced.
